From Treatment to Take #1

For the past two years, our young Director, Aristide Akimana, has been quietly developing "Inzira: Courage in the Storm". Writing, refining, treating, pitching and doing that particularly glamorous part of filmmaking where you have a film, but technically only on paper.

Until now that is….

Inzira has officially received funding from the National Film and Video Foundation (NFVF), which means that after two years of living as a script, a treatment and a very persistent idea, the film is finally on its way into production. And we’re very excited!

Written by Aristide, the story follows Micheline, a recently widowed single mother in Cape Town whose already challenging  day steadily unravels. When her car is broken into and its battery stolen, she is forced to call her estranged son, Napoléon, for help. What begins with a broken-down car becomes something much more intimate. 

Aristide is a huge part of Groundglass and our company culture, and we've had the privilege of watching Inzira grow from an idea into something that is now, finally, about to become a reality. There is something particularly special about getting to rally behind one of your own. We're incredibly excited to see what Aristide delivers with this film.
