The Young Director Award exists to find those moments.

Every year, YDA shines a light on emerging directors from around the world, celebrating bold ideas, fresh perspectives and the kind of work that reminds the rest of us why we fell in love with filmmaking in the first place. Many of today's most recognised commercial directors were once YDA winners themselves, making it less of a crystal ball and more of a glimpse into what's next.

The 2026 winners have just been announced, and while the trophies are worth celebrating, they're only part of the story.
