Smoking Kids
In response to the recent smoking ban in Belgium, photographer Frieke Janssens created this series of photographs depicting controversial images of children smoking (all the cigarettes/cigars were made out of cheese). By portraying adults as children, the viewers attention is drawn to the act of smoking rather than the adult subject in traditional smoking advertising. These images aim to challenge the effectiveness of the smoking ban legislation, where adults are essentially treated as children unable to judge right from wrong.
